Recent Granbury High School graduate Blake Ward will follow in the steps of his two older sisters at the Coast Guard Academy.
Sixth in the high school’s graduating class of 2013, Ward received an appointment to the academy in New London, Conn. He also was offered an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Report day is July 1 for the youngest Ward, who plans to major in marine and environmental sciences or civil engineering.
His older sisters, Alexa and Audra, graduated from GHS in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
Alexa graduated from the academy on May 22 with a bachelor of science in civil engineering and was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard. She will serve five years, with her first assignment aboard the cutter RUSH based in Honolulu.
A first class cadet, Audra is continuing at the academy with a major in mechanical engineering.
The academy educates leaders of a multi-mission, maritime military force.
