When the Tolar Memorial Scholarship Foundation began raffling off a gun each week last year, organizers quickly discovered they had a fundraiser that was right on target.
The group handed out 15 scholarships totaling $24,000 this past year, partially due to the success of the “Gun A Week For A Year Raffle.”
According to club member Doug Lewis, that’s the highest number of scholarships awarded in the club’s history.
The raffle tickets are $50 each. Non-winning tickets are automatically put into the next week’s raffle.
The drawing is held every Monday night.
Lewis says he feels the success of the gun raffle is due to the increased odds of winning.
“People like the idea of being in 52 drawings with one ticket,” he said.
You must be 21 to purchase a raffle ticket.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Lewis at 817-219-1086.
Gun enthusiasts can also order tickets through the mail by making checks payable Tolar Memorial Scholarship Foundation (TMSF). The mailing address is 1901 Powell Cemetery Road, Tolar, Texas 76476.
Provide a phone number and an email address if possible. Club members plan to contact ticketholders via e-mail with ticket sales updates.
Winners must pass all federal and NCIS background checks.
