Tolar, Lipan schools offer Veterans Day programs Monday

November 9, 2013

In honor of Veterans Day on Monday, both Lipan and Tolar schools will be paying tribute to those who serve or have served their country.

Fourth-graders in Tolar will present a Veterans Day music program at Tolar Baptist Church on Monday. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m.

Choir director Kim McAusland says that because patriotic songs are an important part of American culture, many of the songs at the program are intended for the audience to sing along.

There will also be a video at the end of the concert with the Armed Forces Medley that shows active, retired, and deceased family members of the students.

The Tolar fourth-graders have been busy the past few weeks, says McAusland.

“The students began working on the program at the beginning of October,” said McAusland. “Throughout their patriotic rehearsals several days were also spent rehearsing fun Halloween songs to be performed at the Concert in the Park “ing lot” on Halloween.”

Tolar Baptist Church is located at 400 Tolar Highway. Attendees are urged to arrive early for optimal seating.

In Lipan, the L5 ACE Program is also scheduled to host a special slideshow on Monday evening. The presentation will be held in the school cafeteria at 5 p.m.

The slideshow will feature photos of area veterans and family members of Lipan students.

The Lipan school is located at 211 North Kickapoo Street.
