Superintendent: Tolar school taxes won’t be as high

March 2, 2013

Some good news for Tolar school taxpayers. The tax rate won’t be as high as first thought.

The school recently sold construction bonds and will be getting funding soon to build an elementary school on the old football field.

“With the increased wealth of our district and the great rates on the bonds, our tax rate will be approximately 4 cents less than we anticipated when we had our bond election,” Tolar School Superintendent Bruce Gibbs said. “We plan to be moving dirt in June.”

It will take about 12 months to build.

“We hope to be moving into the building in June 2014 and ready for school for the beginning of the 2014-15 school year,” Gibbs said.
