STARS honors first graduates of year

STARS Accelerated High School honored five students who completed all coursework and state requirements to earn their high school diplomas during an informal ceremony on Friday.

The new graduates are Tasha Burtner, Adrian Caro, Tiffany Duprie, Bethany Hoover and Christine Taylor.

The students will be participating in fall graduation exercises Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Acton Baptist Church.

An alternative academic high school that is part of Granbury ISD, STARS provides an optional setting with flexibility and personalized self-paced courses for high school students whose needs are not met in the traditional school. The acronym stands for Self-Motivated Teens Achieving Responsibility and Success.

Over 900 students have graduated from STARS since its founding in 1994.
