Granbury High School speech team members competed at the North Crowley High School speech and debate tournament.
The showing helped one student, Jennifer Rodriguez, earn points toward advancing to the Texas Forensic Association state tournament in the spring. Rodriguez was a quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and was undefeated up to that round.
“Jennifer is a sophomore, and this was her first time ever to compete in Lincoln-Douglas debate,” commented GHS speech and debate coach Shyller McGuire.
Those participating in the North Crowley tourney received the following recognition:
Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking: Alexis Woody, semifinalist

Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Jennifer Rodriguez, quarterfinalist
Prose Interpretation: Cassandra Trevino, fifth
Also competing were Krista Allen, Blake Beatty, Jamie Escarcega, Maria Espinosa, Stephanie Garcia, Cassidy Green, Mark Martinez and Elijah Valverde.
