The Rachel’s Challenge program is kicking off in Granbury schools to equip and motivate students to replace acts of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness, and compassion.
Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Through her writings, she stated that “if one person will go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same.” Her acts of kindness coupled with the contents of her six diaries became the foundation for the program, which is used in schools throughout the U.S.
The program was started in Granbury last school year. Because of the success, schools are continuing the initiative.
