More scholarships this year

The Auxiliary of the Lake Granbury Medical Center is looking for Hood County students who are interested in college scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Students pursuing higher education in the health care field will be selected to receive a $1,500 grant. To help meet the expanding need for healthcare professionals, the LGMC Auxiliary has increased the number of scholarships this year from four to six.

The six recipients will be considered on the basis of financial need and academic performance.

Applications are available at the LGMC Auxiliary Gift Shop in the hospital main lobby at 1310 Paluxy Road, at area colleges and at the bottom of the Volunteers page on the LGMC website, Applications must be submitted by April 15, 2014. Complete details regarding eligibility and requirements are listed in the application.

Bernice Deeds, president of the LGMC Auxiliary, said, ”We feel privileged to contribute to the educational development of local students and the advancement of quality healthcare in Hood County.”

The scholarship program and the Auxiliary’s other philanthropic activities are supported by the operation of the gift shop in the medical center main lobby. The gift shop is staffed by Auxiliary volunteers and open Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
