Theater arts students at Granbury Middle School will be presenting the comedy “Dearly Departed” at 7 p.m. next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16 in the GMS cafeteria.
“Not since Steel Magnolias has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line,” according to Dramatists Play Service. “When the patriarch of the Turpin family keels over dead in the first scene, the struggle to get him buried involves the whole clan, including the not-so-grieving widow who wants to put ‘Mean and Surly’ on the tombstone.”
Cast members are Katie Banton, Emily Brite, Logan Cherry, Jarred Franks, Nicole Futch, Lauren Garr, Skylar Garrett, Max Holly, Sara Mardis, Nick Masias, Faith Nestle, Christopher Patten, Briseyda Padron, Raul Sandoval, Ryan Slade, Junior Stowell, Destiny Young, and Codi Zableckis.
The musical is directed by theater arts teacher Terri Willson.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 10 and under.
‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’ at AMS
Acton Middle School theater students will be presenting “The Little Mermaid Jr.,” an adaptation of the Broadway musical next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the AMS cafeteria.
“In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home behind and live in the world above. But first she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking,” according to the synopsis from Music Theatre International.
With Destiny Garcia in the title role as Ariel, the cast also includes Olivia Adams, Aurora Berryman, Shelby Biggs, Garin Brassie, Trevor Dawson, Charlotte Elliott, Marley Fox, Jackson Martin, Bailey McCall, Jake Piland, Deana Pinkston, Andrew Walters and Chris Willis.
Other ensemble members are Claire Arnold, Kaitlyn Bailey, Makaul Barbaree, Ashley Boyd, Emily Brown, Jevan Easterwood, Hannah Glenn, Hailey Gowens, Leslie Grubbs, Miranda Hall, Jacob Johnson, Anna Belle McMasters, Bri Perkins, Jody Sonderer, Bailey Thompson, Carsyn Walker, Cutter Willmeth, Abigal Wornell and Shannon Wornell.
The musical is being overseen by theater arts teacher Melissa Kendall and choir directors Christine Bridges and Randall Walters. Choreography is by Angela Brown.
Admission is $7 at the door.
