Middle School students selected for honor choir

May 4, 2013

Four eighth graders from Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School were recently selected to join the Middle School/Junior High Honor Choir of the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA).

Selected for the state honor choir are AMS students Clayton Brown, Brynn Deger and Jacob Wheeler along with GMS student Bailey Occhipinti.

The students will learn music and will join 200 other students from across Texas for a performance at the upcoming TCDA state convention.

This select chorus will be under the direction of Lynne Gackle, professor of ensembles and assistant choral director at Baylor University.

Only 200 students were chosen from over 1,200 seventh and eighth graders who submitted audition materials. The group will participate in two and a half days of rehearsals prior to the concert.

The meeting of over 1,000 choir directors will be held July 21-24 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
