Inaugural class of Alumni Hall of Fame honored

October 31, 2012

The first four members of the Granbury ISD Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame were honored Friday at the Granbury High School homecoming.

Two are GHS graduates, one was a GHS teacher and one is a school volunteer and supporter.

The Hall of Fame Board recognized that there have been teachers, staff, and community people who have contributed to the academic success of students and schools and should be recognized. That is why there are three categories in which people can be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The four Hall of Fame members are 2003 STARS graduate Haley Hidalgo, school volunteer Dr. John Knox, 1972 GHS graduate Dr. Larry Price and the late GHS math teacher Emma Roberson.

The winners, chosen by the selection committee, were honored with an individual plaque at the GHS Alumni Homecoming Reception Friday afternoon and again at halftime at the Pirate football game. Their names will also be placed on the Honor Wall at Granbury High School.

The Hall of Fame Board encourages individuals to nominate someone for this award next year as the committee will continue recognizing individuals. Contact school spokesman Jeff Meador at 817-408-4006 for details.
