The Hood County for Healthy Children coalition is offering free Parent Cafe sessions adapted from Community Based Education in Nurturing Parenting (CBENP) program. Students and parents from any school district are invited to attend.
The first session, slated for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Lipan school library, will focus on the basic philosophies and practices of nurturing parenting. Dinner will be served.
Hood Parent Cafes are offered in small, intimate settings where parents/caregivers have an opportunity to discuss their families and parenting challenges, share ideas and learn proven parenting techniques. They also engage the community to build healthy families.
Hood Parent Cafe sessions are comprised of a series of 10 independent 60-90 minute lessons adapted from the CBENP program The CBENP lessons include:
The Philosophy and Practices of Nurturing Parenting
Ages and Stages of Growth for Infants and Toddlers
Ways to Enhance Positive Brain Development in Children & Teens
Communicating with Respect
Building Self-Worth in Children
Understanding and Developing Family Morals, Values and Rules
Praising Children and their Behavior
Alternatives to Spanking (aka Positive Discipline Strategies)
Learning Positive Ways to Deal with Stress and Anger
