GHS pupils qualify for state speech

February 9, 2013

Three Granbury High School students have qualified for the Texas Forensic Association state tournament March 6-10 at South Grand Prairie High School.

The three students will be competing in different events. Senior Colten Meisner will be taking part in the extemporaneous speaking contest, while juniors Rachael Rodgers and Ridglea Willard advanced in Lincoln-Douglas debate and congressional debate respectively.

“These students worked hard all year to accumulate points and earn their place on the state squad,” commented GHS debate coach Shyller McGuire. “I am so proud of all the work they have put in this year.”

The TFA promotes the interests of interscholastic speech and theatre by encouraging a spirit of fellowship among participating students and teachers. Activities viewed as central to the organization’s function include debate, theatre and competitive individual speaking events.
