Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center theater arts students will preview their One Act Play performance during an open dress rehearsal at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Kyle Bagby and Duncan McMahan Performing Arts Center. The public is invited to attend the free performance.
Students will be performing Anatomy of Grey by Jim Leonard. Set in small town Indiana during the 1880s, the story centers around a mysterious man in a hot air balloon who arrives following a tornado. The man claims to be a doctor and begins curing many ailments, but an inexplicable plague soon befalls the town’s inhabitants.
Leading the cast is Matthew Johnston in the title role of Galen Gray. Also starring are Baylee Davis, Hailey Hart, Kate Jennings, Mason Jones, Kiersten Mathis, Dakota Medlin, Brennan Ross and Bailey Youngs. The townspeople are Grace Arnold, Aaron Barnes, Mandy Brenning, Brandon Juardo, Gabe Whites, and Kimbria Younkin. Alternate cast members are Skylar Schrieber, Whitney Shearon and Remington Watson.
Kaitlyn Meinershagen is serving as stage manager with crew members Brynn Deger, Robbie Chancellor, Colin Record and Katie Tull.
The UIL zone contest will be held Thursday at Aledo High School. Performing at 3:30 p.m., GHS will be in competition with Aledo, Fort Worth Southwest and Fort Worth Trimble Tech while Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Fort Worth South Hills, Fort Worth Western Hills and Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt will compete in a separate zone. Two schools from each zone will advance to the district contest on Thursday, March 27.
The production is under the direction of GHS theater arts teacher Phil Groeschel, who is assisted by Crossland theater arts teacher Krista Alcorn Holman.
