Freshman biology students (from left) Matthew McLendon, Zachary Sims, Kathy Strickland and Cece Lozada completed a project on fitness and nutrition this month. For the “Fit For Life” project, the students presented their findings on how individuals can best stay fit through eating right and getting plenty of exercise. The project based learning initiative began in mid-September with students chatting via Skype with a contestant from the NBC television show “The Biggest Loser,” which features overweight competitors attempting to lose the most weight. Students also toured a grocery store to examine the nutritional content of popular food items.
