Drumline competes at first contest

The drumline of the Granbury High School Pirate Band competed at the HEB Drumline Contest held last weekend at Pennington Field in Bedford.

Members of the drumline from both GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade Center are Brandon Andrews, Alexis Baker, Cadence Chiappe, Chandler Chiappe, Trace Chiappe, BreAnne Daly, Laura Farmer, Reagan Hall, Addie Jackson, Justin Kochis, Katie McKamy, Josh Musser, Hunter Prewitt, Khaled Sabek, Josh Schuessler, Randy Sillivent, Derrick Singer, Christian Torres, and Tommy Wallace.

The highly competitive contest attracts the more reputable percussion programs throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including schools from Arlington, Birdville, Frisco, Irving, McKinney, Saginaw and Southlake.

Band members have a full schedule of competitions this fall: Sept. 28 – Mansfield High School’s 2nd Annual Preview of Champions Marching Contest; Oct. 12 – Aledo High School’s 8th Annual Unleash the Sound Marching Festival; Oct. 19 – UIL regional marching contest in Burleson; Oct. 26 – UIL area marching contest at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The drumline also plans to compete in the Lone Star Classic on Nov. 9 in Flower Mound.
