Two Granbury High School graduates performed with an ensemble from Abilene Christian University during an afternoon concert at GHS last week.

The ACU wind ensemble, under the direction of Steven Ward, was on a three-day tour of Texas high schools on their way to Fayetteville, Ark., to perform at the National College Band Directors National Association.

Performing with the university group were GHS alumni Adam Lubbers and Shannon Rohde.

Both are 2013 Granbury graduates.

“I am happy to have both Adam and Shannon back in Granbury,” commented GHS band director Mark Eastin. “They are both college freshmen performing in a highly regarded university wind ensemble while pursuing majors in other fields.”

All current GHS band members were able to hear the university group during the concert.

“I think it was very important for our high school students see that they can be in a college band and even receive scholarships but don’t necessarily have to major in music,” Eastin said.
