13 qualify for state
Thirteen Granbury school district band soloists are advancing to the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest May 25-27 in Austin.
Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center students competed in the University Interscholastic League region solo and ensemble contest last Saturday at Crowley High School.
Soloists earning a trip to state are: Ross Backus, marimba; Chandler Chiappe, marimba; Trace Chiappe, snare drum; Brandon Danz-Shepherd, marimba; Reagan Hall, snare drum; Aaron Morgan, tuba; Zach Morgan, French horn; Josh Musser, marimba; Brennan Ross, French horn; Britt Sherrell, alto saxophone; Randall Sillivent, marimba; Trevor Swingle, tenor saxophone; and Garrett Williams, marimba.
Also qualifying for state is a trombone quartet composed of Austin Franklin, Andrew Jackson, Adam Lubbers and McKenzie Swaim.
Other soloists earning a Division I superior rating were: Ashleen Atchue, oboe; Alexis Baker, marimba; Shannon Cooke, flute; BreAnne Daly, marimba; Ronnie Estrada, flute; Cameron Hastings, alto saxophone; Matthew Johnston, trumpet; Shannon Rohde, contra bass clarinet; Johnathan Sager, snare drum; Whitney Shearon, flute; Lily Thornton, French horn; Christian Torres, snare drum; and Mercy Whites, flute.
