Perky Performance is now open in Granbury. The local speed shop features a chassis dynamometer, or dyno for short, to measure the torque or power of the engine in your vehicle.

Yuri Tulchin recently opened Perky Performance where he offers custom ECU – that’s engine control unit – tuning. “I can go into the computer of the vehicle and rewrite how it thinks, or operates,” Tulchin explained.

Custom tuning can improve a vehicle’s performance and gas mileage. For example, Tulchin said his 2011 Honda Civic is rated for 32 miles per gallon. After custom tuning, he now gets over 48 miles per gallon.

Tulchin came to Granbury after 11 years with the U.S. Marines, including five deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He grew up in Maryland, then spent time living in California while in the Marines.

He came to Texas to help a buddy from the military with his shop. Tulchin then found the Granbury location and opened his own speed shop here.

Reach Perky Performance at 817-579-0999. Perky is located at 3736 W. Highway 377, west of the VFW.

The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work on Sunday is by appointments only.
