Free screenings Tuesday

at Baylor Surgicare

Baylor Surgicare at Granbury will have facility tours and free screenings on Tuesday.

Activities from 1-4 p.m. include: Meet the medical team, tour the facility, free health screenings and free hearing screenings.

From 2-4 p.m., the center will have free vision screenings.

Baylor Surgicare is located at 1717 Paluxy Road.

Fresenius Medical Facility

The Granbury Fresenius Medical Care facility recently received the Center of Excellence designation for achieving the highest standards in patient care during the year 2012.

The award came from the Fresenius Medical Care North American, a network of dialysis facilities.

The Granbury Fresenius Medical Care facility is located at 950 Whitehead Drive.

Dialysis is a life-sustaining process that cleans waste products and removes extra fluids from a person’s blood when chronic kidney disease leads to kidney failure.

Dialysis patients typically require treatment on an ongoing basis unless they receive a kidney transplant.

Back-to-school sales tax holiday coming Aug. 9-11

The annual sales tax holiday is planned Aug. 9-11, a week earlier than previously scheduled.

The sales tax holiday gives Texas shoppers a break from state and local sales taxes on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100.

Shoppers can save up to $8.25 for every $100 they spend.
